Convergence

For me, cars should be a perfect convergence and balance of form and function. Neither should be sacrifice in order to better achieve another. They should co-exist in perfect harmony, hence creating beauty, precision, and fluidity. However, rarely does automakers are able to achieve this perfect balance. Nevertheless, witnessing one these creations is an experience not easily forget - a double shot of admiration, eagerness, and jealousy, shaken not stirred.

prototype

does prototype design only allow us to dream and fancy over how things can be?
Or does it have actual design value in promoting design values and possibilities?

core value

Does what you spend time on has value?
If it does not contribute to the advancement of the greater whole, then what other value does it posses?
You only have 24 hours a day and how you spend your time defines what is important and prioritized in your life.
If Facebook is simply a pass time fun and distraction in your work, then it should be banned; but....
If Facebook is how you can better communicate with other people, then you should embrace it and magnify its potential.

technology or packaging?

vented cap allow maximum air circulation for bristle drying
self dispensing toothpaste through rubber nozzle in bristle head
suction technology to pull toothpaste into handle compartment for no mess refilling

what used to be a simple toothbrush is now a stylish fashionable hygienic tool.

or is it because of...

chrome body and clear plastic packaging
young urbanized people as marketed users
postmodern brand name labeling this postmodern product

um.... how powerful is packaging and marketing.

學點學Photoshop:第五課

If you've seen Sin City, you'll know what kind of effects I'm talking about; high contrast, black & white, rainy mug shots.
If you ever want to create such effects, this is how you do it.

學點學Photoshop:第四課

Most people know the frustrations and difficulties in taking group pictures.
Bigger the group, harder it is for everyone to look good in the pic.
You end up with someone looking away, one with a strange face, one with their eyes closed, one sneezing......

Traditionally, you take multiple shots hoping that at least one of them will turn out best. With the advancement of technology, there's finally a solution for this nightmare.
  1. When taking group pictures, turn on your camera's multi-shoot mode. Rather than taking the shoot one by one, just let your camera take multiple shoots. But also do this at least twice, so you have two sets of shoots.
  2. From all these photos, pick two best ones and follow the instructions in this video and see how you can combine these two photos into one, keeping the best of both while at the same time.

學點學Photoshop:第三課

One of Photoshop CS2 most amazing feature is call Vanishing Point.

If you've done some photo editing before, you'll know how hard it is to clone-heal-clone-heal a large area. It's even harder when that area is in perspective.

This new tool is simply amazing!! Introduced in CS2, and now with major advancement in CS3, Vanishing Point can become one of your most important tool when you master it.

when good idea meets good design...

One of the trend in the latest product design is to combine existing technologies into one product. We see that from all the different variations of cell phones:

  • phone + digital camera,
  • phone + digital camera + mp3 player,
  • phone + digital camera + mp3 player + pda,
  • phone + digital camera + mp3 player + pda + internet browser + MSN messenger +
    GPS navigator...
The problem with this is, what exactly does the final product do?? Does it excel in any single function or are all of these just bells and whistle? Nevertheless, on a rare occation, a product comes across that is stylish yet functional, practical and smart.

This is the Bubble Head WebCam. It's a webcam + a clock. THAT'S IT!!! Nothing fancy!!
But its design is smart + cute + functional!!
I just adore the "superman" design....
Only wish it goes into production!!
